Reading Dub Club, Culture Mix and Reading International Solidarity Centre bring you an educational evening celebrating and understanding the roots of reggae and sound system culture in rebellion from slavery, racialisation and oppression, and highlighting the continuing political and musical movement for justice, equality and peace.
TALK: Black History and the Movement for Reparatory Justice
Leading reparations advocate Esther Stanford Xosei links the living history of slavery and colonialism to anti-black oppression in Britain today, and shares stories from the vibrant global movement for reparations.
Plus speakers on Reading’s links to slavery, and solidarity activist Miriam Rose shares a white perspective on the origins of Britain's wealth and the need for reparations.
